You control the snake, which from the start is only a tiny little square moving around in the game plan.
You are looking for food, the little purple square always present on the game plan. There is only once single piece of food, if you cannot reach it, you will have to wait until it is available again.
If you ever crash into your own tail, changes to your opposite direction or hits a wall, you will die. There are no extra lives available, you are dead as soon as you have crashed, and will have to start a new game.
There is no second level or anything like that. If you get a good Znake player, you will probably have a snake covering just about the whole game area, and die because there is no space to expand.
How the scoring system works
Each piece of food will make Znake grow to be anything from one to nine squares longer.
Every time Znake grows, your score is increased.
The score increases more rapidly the longer your znake has grown.
The time needed to find a piece of food is just somewhat important. The shorter time you need to find some food, the more points you will gain.
Game speed (+, - and p) will not affect the scores, except that if your snake is going very slow, it will take longer time to find the food, and you will gain less points. If you go fast and locates the food very fast, you will probably get lots of extra points.
How to get a highscore?
The system keep tracks of highscores. If you have a very good score, which may is good enough for either all-time, 4-weeks or Personal highscore, the system will request for your name, email and homepage, to allow you to enter the lists.
If you do not want to enter your name, simply press the "Cancel"-button instead of the "Register Score"-button.
